Hats Off.

Last Tuesday I got the opportunity to Photograph in Weston Hall (Midlands)

Photographing Hats for FlissyG Millnery

It was a beautiful location. Every room telling its own story. Literally endless photographing options.

Long draping curtains, gardens stretching for miles and hand crafted wooden stairs.

Enough about the place onto the hats!

(Jasmine Roberts)

I got to photograph a beautiful selection of Handmade hats. Each showcasing their own personality.

You will start seeing these hats all over in the near future. Watch this space.

Until Next Time.

The Dogs Bollocks.

Never stop learning!

I have been doing some research tonight on websites and through magazines finding out who has shot what and figuring out how a certain thing is photographed.

I wanted to write a post on this because you should never stop.

When you land something big it makes you feel like the Dog Bollocks and you are.

But its easy to fall back and sit on what you have done for months and not progress anywhere in that time, now that progression does not have to be shown in photo shoots.

Follow My Instagram
(Me posting notes in Magazines to figure out how everything is shot)

Never stop looking at others,

Looking at His or Hers photographs,

Never stop,

If you have an idea don't go of shit ill write this down in the morning fucking write it down now,

It's like this blog post, I had the idea why I mid way through playing Destiny on Xbox,

I could have wrote this hours from now or tomorrow but I wanted to do it now,

It's just about keeping your mind active.

Now I'm not afraid to say I'm still learning of course I am. Everyone is!

The time I will think I'm the Dogs Bollocks is when I'm sitting on a veranda when I'm 70 saying "Oh I shot this huge thing once"

I can't wait for the next thing that I learn to continue progression,

Remember to balance this though!

I have huge drive and passion but you can over work and over think,

Do as much work/research as you want there is no limit but If something comes into your mind like oh.. I fancy going for a walk or oh... I fancy grabbing a cuppa or I want to kill thousands of peasants on Total War. Then go and do it.

It's all about balance.

This post has got deep.

Until Next Time.

It's Monday & That Usually Means Made In Chelsea Monday's.

As some of you know I do a lot of photography for Made In Chelsea.

Monday's mean watch Made in Chelsea.

I am responsible for the Thumbnails on 4OD for the video shorts.

I have had such good times working with the cast and crew on these Jobs.

Honestly they are some of the kindest people I know and go out their way to make you feel comfortable.

I have been lucky enough to be on TV for about 10 seconds in an advert and also feature on videos for the sponsors Rimmel London as seen below!

I'm going to show you a few Photographs that made it as the thumbnails.

Cannot wait to go on more adventures with them!

Until Next Time.

Prepping For Uni.

So its exactly a month until I'm back living the life in London.

I start at LCF (London College Of Fashion) in September.

I hope this will channel my portrait photography and enable me to really kick on with my photography and my life!

It's been tough the last few months if I'm being honest.

Being self employed is no walk in the park. You have to be (enables list form)

  • confident
  • passionate
  • don't give in
  • stubborn
  • ruthless
  • Kind
  • Friendly

an opportunist. Grab what you can when you can.

For example I landed a job up in Bradford. Next day drove up. Landed a Job in Plymouth. Next down down.

Its hard. I see people with Facebook pages trying their best and I wish them all the luck in the world because I know first hand how difficult it is!

I know for a fact some people think its stupid of me going to University.

But at the end of the day as this picture will illustrate

I doing what I think and know is best for me so that is what I am going to do.

I take this attitude into my work also. If you don't like then I'm not going to lose any sleep over it.

What I'm trying to get as is really do what you think is best!

Until Next Time.

Celebrating a Year Of Having A Website

So Yes! One Year of having and running a Website.

I created a Website because I wanted one place that everyone can find me and see my content. Then use social media to share that content & the Website

This Website has seen many a change.

Heres a YouTube videos so you can see how much it has changed :0

Finally after a year of trial and error I believe I have come up with a layout that will be a great experience for every viewer.

I wanted it slick. I wanted large banners to make it obvious of when new content is added.

I have a guided tour of me rambling on about what I wanted to achieve.

Overall I wanted to say thank you for your support over the last year.

I hope to carry on building an updating to stay on step ahead and bring an enjoyable web experience for all of you.

I'm going to leave you with a sort of montage of the content featured over the past year of www.alexleejohnson.com
